Find the right curling wand set is very important. There are many different options, like ceramic, tourmaline, and ceramic and tourmaline. It's all depending on what is most important to you. A lot of people like the ceramic barrels simply because they hold an edge much better than tourmaline or the ceramic-tourmaline barrels.
Some people like the sound that they make as well. In the case of the ceramic-tourmaline barrel, it's got a little chime to them. They don't make nearly as much noise as the ceramic, though, which is why a lot of people use ceramic. Ceramic will slide a little easier than surface-wound tourmaline. It will slide better.
With the inner barrel of the curling wand, it's going to be the main thing working your hair. Ceramic is going to give you more control than tourmaline. It's going to allow you to get a more consistent curl.
Generally speaking, as far as the size of the barrel goes, for liability reasons, the larger size barrels are not going to be able to get smaller hair than a half-inch. That's the limitation of a curling wand barrel. The smaller barrels are a little more versatile and they're more likely to be able to get smaller curl sizes. Because the larger ones, when it's a large spiral, hair gets caught. It gets wound around.
I think all the curling wands are all really safe, they're heavy duty quality hair curling wands. They're a lot better than the old curling irons. I'm sure the old ones were good as well, but, I just don't feel very safe holding one of them.
